Truist Bank Data Breach: Hacker Claims to Sell Sensitive Information

Truist Bank, one of the largest banks in the US, has confirmed a data breach that exposed the personal information of thousands of account holders.

Hacker’s Claim

A hacker known as Sp1d3r claims to be selling a trove of data from Truist Bank, including:

  • Names
  • Bank account numbers
  • Transaction history
  • Balances

Sp1d3r is reportedly asking for $1 million for the data, which also includes information on bank employees.

Bank’s Response

Truist Bank has confirmed the breach, stating that it occurred in October 2023. The bank has taken steps to secure its systems and notified a “small number” of affected clients.

The bank has not yet detected any fraud cases related to the breach.
