TravelX and Viva Aerobus Team Up to Bring Digital Tickets to Algorand Blockchain

In a recent announcement, TravelX, a blockchain-focused company aiding airlines in expanding their retail capabilities, has joined forces with Viva Aerobus, a prominent Mexican airline, to convert airline tickets into digital assets using the Algorand blockchain.

Passengers Get Smart Options TravelX’s collaboration with Viva Aerobus offers an exciting opportunity for passengers. Those who purchase airline tickets can now transform them into digital assets. This includes the introduction of smart buyback and smart flight swap features for air tickets.

Leading the Blockchain Transformation Through this partnership, Viva Aerobus finds itself at the forefront of revolutionizing airline inventory management on the Algorand blockchain network. Additionally, the collaboration is expected to open doors to new revenue opportunities and innovative use-cases for Viva Aerobus customers.

Blockchain Adoption in the Airline Industry This isn’t TravelX’s first venture into promoting blockchain technology within the airline industry. Earlier this year, TravelX partnered with Flybondi to introduce e-tickets as non-fungible tokens (NFTs) through a collaboration with an NFT ticketing company. NFT tickets offer passengers the flexibility to modify the ticket’s name, transfer it, or even sell it, all powered by the Algorand blockchain.

TravelX also made headlines last year by teaming up with Air Europa to launch the world’s first NFT flight ticket series, known as NFTickets. Buyers of NFTickets gained exclusive access to an Air Europa flight to Miami Beach, along with additional perks and events leading up to Art Basel in Miami Beach.

NFT flight tickets represent the latest trend in travel-related activities utilizing blockchain technology. In January, Travala, a prominent crypto-native travel booking service, introduced an NFT-based travel rewards program. Around the same time, LynKey, a Singapore-based company, unveiled an NFT-based platform allowing resorts and hotels to tokenize various aspects of property development on an international blockchain-powered ecosystem, including purchases, leases, land use, and tourism-related entertainment.
