T-Mobile Pays Out $350 Million After Massive Data Breach

T-Mobile is finally paying out a massive $350 million settlement to customers affected by a 2021 data breach. This follows a class-action lawsuit filed after the hack exposed the personal information of 76 million Americans.

Settlement Payments Begin

The payouts, which started recently and will continue for several weeks, are going out to millions of affected customers. The amount each person receives varies, ranging from $25 to $100, with some receiving up to $25,000 for significant documented losses. Payments will be made via direct deposit or check, depending on customer preference.

What Happened?

The 2021 cyberattack was one of the largest in US history. Criminals gained access to sensitive customer data, including names, addresses, Social Security numbers, and more. This led to multiple lawsuits claiming T-Mobile failed to adequately protect customer information.

More Than Just Money

Besides the cash payouts, the settlement also includes two years of free identity theft protection services for affected customers. T-Mobile denies any wrongdoing but claims to have significantly improved its cybersecurity measures since the incident.
