Edward Snowden, the former NSA whistleblower, has addressed rumors that he is Satoshi Nakamoto, the anonymous creator of Bitcoin.
Snowden’s Statement
Snowden did not confirm or deny the rumors, but he warned that if he ever claims to be Satoshi, people should “look hard” at his posts to determine if he’s “just trolling” or if he’s “losing his marbles.”
He also stated that if neither of those is the case, then he is likely using the claim as a “duress code.”
Snowden’s Involvement in Cryptocurrency
Snowden is a computer scientist and has been involved in the creation of the privacy coin Zcash. He has also expressed support for Bitcoin and commented on its development.
Craig Wright’s Trial
Craig Wright, who claims to be Satoshi Nakamoto, is currently facing a legal battle to prove his assertions. The trial has seen testimony from both sides, including from Wright’s former colleague who testified in his favor.
Wright’s History
Wright has previously called Snowden a “traitorous scum” and claimed that Satoshi was never anonymous.
