Shiba Inu’s Lead Dev Accused of Fraud

The Shiba Inu cryptocurrency community is buzzing with accusations against its lead developer, Shytoshi Kusama. A popular SHIB burn tracker account, @shibburn, on X (formerly Twitter), has leveled serious allegations of fraud and misleading the community.

The Allegations

@shibburn, known for tracking SHIB burns, calls Kusama and his associates “scammers.” The account claims they manipulated information surrounding the SHY token, falsely claiming it wasn’t launched by Kusama but by the Solana community.

@shibburn also accuses Kusama of improperly labeling certain projects as “official” Shiba Inu initiatives, stating that Kusama and his associates have no authority to do so. This includes projects like K9 Finance, which @shibburn says falsely claims affiliation with the main Shiba Inu ecosystem.

A New Platform for Transparency?

In response to these accusations, @shibburn announced plans to create a new platform for the SHIB community. This platform aims to provide accurate information and avoid promoting projects linked to Kusama that @shibburn considers deceptive. The goal is to create a more trustworthy space free from misinformation.

The SHY Token Controversy

Much of the controversy centers around the SHY token. While the Shiba Inu team insists SHY isn’t officially part of the Shiba Inu ecosystem (which includes SHIB, BONE, and LEASH), Kusama’s involvement—including burning half the SHY supply after receiving it via airdrop—has fueled speculation. Shiba Inu’s marketing lead, Lucie (@LucieSHIB), clarified that Kusama’s actions don’t constitute official endorsement. She explained that Kusama’s involvement was a reaction to chaotic situations involving rogue admins attempting to scam the community. The team emphasizes that the official Shiba Inu gateway is SHIB.IO.

Repeated Accusations

This isn’t the first time @shibburn has publicly criticized Kusama and related projects. Previous accusations involved claims of pump-and-dump schemes using Kusama’s supposed “main account” to promote fraudulent tokens. @shibburn expressed disappointment with the situation and hopes the community can learn from it.

Kusama’s Silence

At the time of writing, Kusama hasn’t publicly responded to these accusations. SHIB’s price was $0.00001477.
