Richmond, Virginia is giving away $3.9 million in housing assistance grants! This one-time program, called the RVA Stay Gap Grant Program, will award $1,200 to eligible residents on a first-come, first-served basis.
Who Qualifies?
To be eligible, you must:
- Be a Richmond, Virginia resident.
- Spend 30% or more of your household income on housing.
- Be in the bottom 80% of the low-income bracket.
- Not currently receive other city housing assistance.
- Provide proof of residency (lease or mortgage).
How it Works:
- Renters: Your $1,200 will be sent directly to your landlord. Annual housing costs include rent, renter’s insurance, and utilities.
- Homeowners: Your grant will first cover your real estate taxes, with any remaining amount sent to you as a check. Annual housing costs include mortgage payments and utilities.

- The application deadline is December 31st.
