Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), one of the world’s biggest soccer clubs, is making a big move into Bitcoin.
A Million-Dollar Gamble
PSG Labs head, Pär Helgosson, revealed at the Bitcoin 2025 Conference in Las Vegas that the club holds Bitcoin. He stated that PSG is “about what’s next,” likening the club’s forward-thinking approach to Bitcoin’s innovative nature. The club reportedly allocated a portion of its cash reserves to Bitcoin last year and continues to hold the cryptocurrency. This makes PSG one of the largest sports organizations to invest in Bitcoin. Reports suggest the club holds around 120 BTC, currently worth roughly $12.5 million.
Champions League Announcement
This surprising announcement came just before PSG played in the Champions League final against Inter Milan. The final drew over 400 million viewers globally, dwarfing the Super Bowl’s viewership of around 124 million.
Market Reaction
News of PSG’s Bitcoin holdings caused a brief surge in the price of the PSG Fan Token, jumping 13.7% from $2.41 to $2.74. However, at the time of writing, the token is down 6% in the last 24 hours, while Bitcoin itself is down 2.4%.
