A massive data breach has exposed the personal and financial information of over 210,000 Americans. The breach involved Harbin Clinic, a Georgia-based healthcare provider, and its third-party debt collection service, Nationwide Recovery Services (NRS).
What Happened?
In July 2024, NRS experienced a network outage due to unauthorized access to its systems. Hackers gained access between July 5th and 11th, copying files containing sensitive patient data. This wasn’t discovered until February 2025, when NRS informed Harbin Clinic that patient information might have been compromised.
The stolen data included names, addresses, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, and financial account details. Harbin Clinic, which uses NRS to collect overdue payments, immediately notified the affected 210,140 individuals.
Harbin Clinic’s Response
Harbin Clinic has offered free credit monitoring services to everyone affected by the breach. While they haven’t seen any evidence of misused data yet, they’re urging patients to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
