Chase Customer Scammed Out of $387,000

A 61-year-old woman lost a staggering $387,000 in a bank scam, police say.

How the Scam Worked

The scam began with a phone call. Someone pretending to be from JPMorgan Chase’s fraud department convinced the victim to withdraw and hand over the large sum of money between February 27th and April 28th.

The Chase and the Arrests

Following an investigation, police apprehended Dominique Jones and Jean Saint Fort in a high-speed chase. A handgun and stolen credit cards were found in their possession.

The Charges

Jones faces charges including attempted grand larceny, weapons possession, possession of stolen property, resisting arrest, and criminal mischief. Saint Fort is also charged with attempted grand larceny and weapons possession. Both were formally charged on May 8th.

The Aftermath

It’s currently unclear whether the victim will recover her lost funds.
