$5 Million Reward for Missing ‘Cryptoqueen’ in OneCoin Scam

Background

The U.S. government is offering up to $5 million for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Ruja Ignatova, the founder of the infamous OneCoin scheme.

OneCoin Scam

Ignatova, known as the “Cryptoqueen,” launched OneCoin in 2014 as a multi-level marketing (MLM) network. She falsely claimed it had a private blockchain, and the fraud reportedly defrauded over 3.5 million victims of $4 billion.

Irina Dilkinska’s Involvement

In November 2023, Irina Dilkinska, OneCoin’s “head of compliance,” pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and money laundering. She was sentenced to four years in prison.

Ignatova’s Disappearance

Ignatova has been missing for over seven years. There are suspicions that she may have been murdered by a suspected drug lord.

US Government’s Involvement

US government lawyers believe Ignatova employed the drug lord as her head of security, who may have been involved in her disappearance. Europol documents also suggest that the drug lord used OneCoin’s network to launder drug money.
