US Embassy Steps In: Binance Employee’s Health Concerns in Nigeria

Binance executive Tigran Gambaryan has been stuck in a Nigerian prison since February, and his health is deteriorating rapidly.

Gambaryan was arrested alongside a colleague, Nadeem Anjarwalla, who managed to escape the country. The two had traveled to Nigeria to discuss regulations with the government.

Gambaryan’s situation has been getting worse. He’s suffering from a herniated disc, malaria, and pneumonia, and hasn’t been receiving adequate medical care.

Binance CEO Richard Teng has called the treatment “inhumane” and demanded Gambaryan be allowed to return home for medical treatment.

Now, the US embassy is stepping in. The embassy is pushing for access to Gambaryan, who is a US citizen, citing concerns about his health.

The Nigerian government claims Gambaryan is not in ill health and was already dealing with a herniated disc before his imprisonment.

This situation highlights the ongoing tensions between Binance and authorities in both the US and Nigeria. Binance has faced regulatory scrutiny in the US, and Gambaryan’s arrest and ongoing detention have added another layer of complexity to the company’s global operations.
