Trump Mulls Crypto CEO for Top Regulatory Role

A Surprise Contender for CFTC Chair

President Trump is reportedly considering Perianne Boring, CEO of the Chamber of Digital Commerce, to head the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). Sources say her ability to clearly explain complex financial issues to the public is a key factor in her consideration.

Other Candidates in the Mix

The race for the CFTC Chair isn’t a one-horse race. Other strong contenders include current CFTC Commissioners Summer Mersinger and Caroline Pham, and former Commissioner Jill Sommers. Neal Kumar, a former CFTC special counsel, is also in the running.

Boring’s Crypto Stance

Boring has been a vocal advocate for the cryptocurrency industry. Earlier this year, she publicly opposed bills proposed by Senators Warren and Brown that aimed to tighten regulations on crypto, arguing they could stifle innovation. She’s also made headlines with her bullish prediction of Bitcoin reaching $1 million by 2029. Currently, Bitcoin is trading around $94,944.
