Swarm Network, the decentralized protocol behind Rollup.News, has partnered with Walrus, a decentralized data storage platform, to boost its verifiable AI capabilities. This collaboration aims to create a more transparent and auditable AI ecosystem.
Storing the Facts: Decentralized Data Storage for AI
Rollup.News uses AI agents to fact-check social media claims, recording everything on the blockchain. As the amount of data grows, Swarm needed a scalable, decentralized storage solution. Walrus, built on the Sui blockchain, provides this solution, offering persistent on-chain storage and retrieval of data through Tusky, its user-friendly file management layer.
What’s Being Stored?
Walrus will store a variety of data types, including:
- Rollup summaries
- Media files (images, videos, audio)
- Knowledge graphs
- Agent logs
- Attestation records
This data is organized across different storage tiers (hot, warm, and cold) to optimize performance and ensure data is readily available and permanently stored. Swarm’s Truth Protocol will index this data using smart contracts, allowing agents to easily access past information for future fact-checking.
Why This Matters: Building Trust in AI
According to Rebecca Simmonds from the Walrus Foundation, Swarm is creating a new standard for trust and transparency in AI. Yannick Myson, CEO of Swarm Network, emphasizes the importance of memory and context in verifiable AI, stating that Walrus transforms temporary AI work into permanent, auditable on-chain knowledge.
Walrus’s Growing Role in AI
This partnership follows similar integrations by OpenGradient and io.net, showcasing Walrus’s increasing importance in providing secure and scalable infrastructure for next-generation AI applications.
