A messy divorce has turned into a major crypto lawsuit. Elisa Rossi, ex-wife of Solana co-founder Stephen Akridge, claims he stole millions of dollars in staking rewards from her Solana holdings.
Millions in Staking Rewards at Stake
Rossi filed a lawsuit in San Francisco, alleging that Akridge, while controlling her accounts after their February 2023 divorce filing, pocketed the staking rewards generated from her SOL tokens. Staking rewards are basically like interest earned on crypto; users lock up their tokens to help validate transactions and earn more in return. The lawsuit claims Akridge exploited his superior knowledge of crypto to gain access and control of these rewards between March and May of this year.
The Ex-Wife’s Claims
Rossi’s complaint accuses Akridge, now CEO of a cybersecurity firm, of breach of contract, unjust enrichment, and fraud. While the exact amount is redacted from the public court documents, Rossi insists the stolen funds represent a significant sum. She’s seeking substantial damages.
Akridge’s Response
The lawsuit does not detail Akridge’s response to the allegations.
