A long-lost Ethereum investor has finally woken up after nine years of inactivity, moving millions of dollars worth of ETH.
The Big Sleep and the Big Move
This “whale” participated in Ethereum’s initial coin offering (ICO) back in 2014, receiving 2,000 ETH. That’s worth about $6.7 million today! Recently, they moved over half of their holdings – 1,111 ETH, worth $3.7 million – to a new wallet. This transaction happened nine years after Ethereum launched in July 2015.
Why the Wake-Up Call?
No one knows for sure why the investor decided to move their ETH. But it’s a big deal – they bought that 1,111 ETH for just $344 back in the day! That’s a return of over 1,000,000%!
Bitcoin Whales on the Move Too
It’s not just Ethereum whales making moves. Crypto tracking firm Lookonchain noticed that big Bitcoin (BTC) investors are also buying up huge amounts of BTC from Binance and Bitfinex, two of the biggest crypto exchanges. One whale moved 4,500 BTC (worth $302 million) from Binance in just 22 hours!
Remember: This is Not Financial Advice
It’s exciting to see these big moves in the crypto market, but remember, this is not financial advice. Do your own research before investing in any cryptocurrency. You’re responsible for your own investments, and any losses you might incur.
