A Texas cleaning service owner is accusing JPMorgan Chase of refusing to reimburse her after $80,000 vanished from her business account.
Hacked Facebook, Emptied Account
Marisel Ballard, owner of Trustworthy Cleaning Service, says hackers accessed her Facebook account, which was linked to her JPMorgan Chase business account. The thieves used this access to make unauthorized withdrawals totaling nearly $80,000 over several days. Ballard claims neither Facebook nor the bank alerted her to any suspicious activity.
Bank Refuses Reimbursement
Ballard expected JPMorgan Chase to cover the losses, but the bank denied her claim. JPMorgan Chase reportedly stated that Ballard couldn’t provide sufficient evidence that the transactions were unauthorized. This left Ballard, who employs around 30 people, scrambling to cover payroll, forcing her to take out a loan.
Ballard Feels Let Down
Ballard expressed her disappointment with JPMorgan Chase, highlighting her 15-year relationship with the bank and questioning the fairness of the situation. Facebook has yet to comment on the incident.
