Internet Computer’s Developer Activity Surges to the Top

Internet Computer (ICP) has taken the lead in a key metric: developer activity. This puts it ahead of major players like Ethereum (ETH) and Cardano (ADA).

Developer Activity: What Does It Mean?

Santiment, a crypto analytics firm, recently shared data showing the top crypto projects ranked by developer activity over the past month. This metric measures the amount of work developers are doing on their public GitHub repositories. Instead of just counting commits (which can be misleading due to forking), Santiment counts “events,” such as commits, issue creation, and pull requests. Forking a project only counts as one event, giving a clearer picture of actual developer effort.

ICP Leads the Pack

Here’s the top 10 according to Santiment’s data:

Internet Computer topped the list with a score of 557.7, significantly ahead of the competition. Chainlink (LINK) and Starknet (STRK) followed in second and third place, respectively. Surprisingly, Cardano (ADA) came in fourth, and Ethereum (ETH), despite its large market cap, landed last on this particular list.

What Does High Developer Activity Mean?

High developer activity is generally a good sign. It suggests the developers are actively working on the project, which could indicate long-term commitment and a lower risk of the project being abandoned (a “rug pull”). While it doesn’t guarantee price increases, it’s a positive indicator for the future of the project.

ICP’s Current Price

At the time of writing, ICP is trading around $5.26, down about 10% over the past week.
