A 22-year-old social media influencer, Haliey Welch, is facing a class-action lawsuit over her Solana-based memecoin, HAWK. Welch, who gained fame as the “Hawk Tuah” girl, is now claiming full cooperation with investigators.
Welch’s Response
In a recent social media post, Welch stated her commitment to resolving the situation. She expressed a desire to help uncover the truth, hold those responsible accountable, and assist the legal team representing affected investors. She said she takes the matter very seriously.
The HAWK Project Collapse
HAWK, launched in December 2024, experienced a dramatic 95% price drop shortly after its release. This led to accusations of a “rug pull” – a scam where creators inflate a token’s price, then sell their holdings, causing a massive price crash and leaving investors with worthless assets.
The Lawsuit
Burwick Law, a New York-based firm, filed a federal lawsuit against Welch on behalf of disgruntled HAWK investors. The lawsuit alleges violations of federal investor protection laws. At the time of writing, HAWK is trading at $0.00003409, a significant drop from its peak value of $0.00008917.
