Huge Data Breach Impacts Half a Million Americans

A massive data breach at Numotion, a company providing mobility and assistive solutions, has exposed the personal information of nearly 500,000 customers.

What Happened?

Between September 2nd and November 18th, 2024, unauthorized individuals accessed employee email accounts at Numotion. These emails contained sensitive customer data. While Numotion claims there’s no evidence of malicious intent to access this information, the breach exposed a wide range of personal details.

What Information Was Exposed?

The compromised information varied per customer but could include:

  • Names
  • Dates of birth
  • Product information
  • Payment and financial account information
  • Health insurance information
  • Medical information
  • Social Security numbers (for a smaller number of individuals)
  • Driver’s license numbers (for a smaller number of individuals)

What Should Affected Customers Do?

Numotion is offering identity theft protection services to those whose Social Security numbers were stolen. All affected customers are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately. This includes:

  • Reporting any unusual activity on financial accounts to your bank or credit card company.
  • Reporting any healthcare fraud to your insurance provider.
  • Reporting any fraudulent activity to law enforcement, including local police and your state attorney general.
