From FTX Exec to “Inmate at FCI Cumberland”

Former FTX executive Ryan Salame has a new job title, and it’s not one he’s excited about.

Prison Bound

Salame was sentenced to 7.5 years in prison for his role in the FTX collapse. He was supposed to start his sentence in December, but he tried to delay it. When that didn’t work, he took to LinkedIn to announce his new position as “Inmate at FCI Cumberland.” He even added “cleaning” and “whittling” to his skills list.

A Complicated Case

Salame’s case got complicated when the mother of his child, Michelle Bond, was indicted for campaign finance violations. Salame claimed he pleaded guilty to protect Bond, but the government said he was lying. The judge ultimately ruled against Salame’s request to delay his prison sentence.

FTX’s Downfall

FTX went bankrupt in November 2022 after accusations that CEO Sam Bankman-Fried misused customer funds. Bankman-Fried was sentenced to 25 years in prison in March.

Salame’s LinkedIn profile has since been deleted, but his updates are circulating on social media. This is just the latest chapter in the ongoing saga of the FTX collapse.
