Elon Musk, the man who loves Dogecoin, has done it again. He’s got the DOGE community buzzing with excitement by featuring a Shiba Inu, the mascot of Dogecoin, in the unveiling of Tesla’s new self-driving car, the Cybercab.
Doge in the Driver’s Seat
The official Dogecoin account on X (formerly Twitter) even called it a “Shiba Inu taxi.” This subtle nod has sparked speculation about Tesla’s plans to accept Dogecoin as payment for its vehicles.
Dogecoin enthusiasts are going wild. One prominent community member, DogeDesigner, even suggested that Musk hinted at the possibility of buying a Cybercab with Dogecoin.
Others, like Sir Doge of the Coin, highlighted the significance of the Shiba Inu’s appearance in the unveiling video.
However, some remain cautious, pointing out the lack of official announcements from Tesla about Dogecoin integration.
The Cybercab: A Glimpse into the Future
The Cybercab is a sleek, two-seater vehicle with scissor doors. It’s completely autonomous, meaning no steering wheel or pedals. The interior is minimalist, similar to Tesla’s Model 3 and Model Y, with a large touchscreen.
The Cybercab is designed for wireless charging, eliminating the need for traditional charging cables. While specific details about range, battery size, and charging speed are still under wraps, Musk has hinted at an ambitious production timeline, aiming to start manufacturing in 2026.
He envisions a fleet of Cybercabs accessible through an app, offering rides at a cost of $0.20 per mile, significantly cheaper than traditional transportation options.
More Than Just a Car
The event also showcased Tesla’s other futuristic projects, including the Robovan, an autonomous minibus capable of carrying 20 passengers, and Optimus, Tesla’s humanoid robot.
Musk has long championed autonomous vehicles as a key part of Tesla’s future, previously suggesting that Tesla owners could use their cars as part of a robotaxi network to earn income.
Dogecoin’s Price Remains Unfazed
Despite the hype surrounding the Cybercab and the Shiba Inu’s appearance, Dogecoin’s price hasn’t seen any significant changes. It’s up slightly, but this is mostly in line with the overall crypto market sentiment.
While no official announcements have been made about Dogecoin integration, Musk’s history of influencing Dogecoin’s value through social media hints and endorsements keeps the community hopeful.
