Big names in the crypto world reportedly opened their wallets wide for President Trump’s inauguration. According to reports, several leading companies donated a total of at least $10 million.
Who Donated What?
The biggest contribution came from Ripple, a blockchain payments company currently facing SEC scrutiny over XRP sales. They reportedly donated a whopping $5 million in digital tokens. Ripple’s CEO and Chief Legal Officer even plan to attend the inauguration.
Robinhood, the popular trading app that also supports crypto, chipped in $2 million. Coinbase, Kraken, and Circle (the issuer of the USDC stablecoin) each donated $1 million.
Why the Big Donations?
Coinbase’s VP for US policy explained the donations, stating that engaging with the new administration is crucial for the crypto industry. They see President Trump as the most crypto-friendly president yet, making these contributions a strategic move.
