This investor bought their Bitcoin back in 2012 when it was worth a lot less. They originally paid just $12,223 for the whole lot! That means they’ve seen a massive return on their investment, with their Bitcoin now worth over 530,000% more than they paid for it.
Dusting Attacks
It’s worth noting that this wallet has received tiny amounts of Bitcoin over the years. These were likely “dusting attacks,” where scammers try to track down the owner of a wallet by sending them tiny amounts of crypto.
Other Ancient Whales Waking Up
This isn’t the only time a Bitcoin whale has woken up recently. Last week, another wallet holding 25 Bitcoin was activated after being dormant for over 10 years. And just a few weeks ago, a wallet holding 24 Bitcoin was activated after being inactive for over 11 years.
