A long-dormant Bitcoin wallet, inactive for over a decade, recently made a massive move, shifting around $207.5 million worth of Bitcoin. This represents a truly staggering profit.
A Decade of Holding
The wallet originally received its Bitcoin in July 2013, when the price was a mere $85 per coin. This week’s transaction, involving 2,186 BTC, occurred when Bitcoin was trading around $94,929. That’s a mind-blowing 111,581% increase!
More Than Just One Move
The wallet didn’t just move its original stash. It also transferred smaller amounts acquired in 2014, purchased at prices around $612 and $377 per Bitcoin.
Possible Dusting Attack
Interestingly, the wallet also received tiny amounts of Bitcoin over the years. This suggests a possible “dusting attack,” where small amounts of cryptocurrency are sent to an address to try and identify the owner. These attacks can be carried out by various parties, including researchers, law enforcement, or even scammers.
Current Bitcoin Price
At the time of writing, Bitcoin is trading at approximately $100,405.
