A Bitcoin maximalist, going by the handle FiatHawk, recently unleashed a scathing attack on XRP investors. This happened after someone suggested XRP could skyrocket to $10,000.
The $10,000 XRP Prediction and the Backlash
The whole thing started with a post about the potential for a huge XRP price increase. Someone suggested a $300 investment could turn into $1 million if XRP hit $10,000. FiatHawk responded by calling XRP investors “truly retarded.”
This sparked a debate in the crypto community. One person pointed out that a $10,000 XRP price would give it a market cap of $593 trillion – far exceeding even Apple’s current valuation. Another Bitcoin maxi chimed in, saying the sheer number of people believing in a $10,000 XRP proves the world is full of “retards.” However, some defended XRP investors, suggesting they were just “cheap” for missing out on Bitcoin.
Despite the insults, it’s worth noting that some analysts have predicted XRP could reach $10,000. Edward Farina and Random Crypto Pal, for example, have both suggested this is possible, depending on various factors like Ripple’s legal battle and XRP’s potential role in replacing SWIFT.
XRP’s Recent Price Dip
The controversy comes amidst a recent drop in XRP’s price, falling below $3. This was part of a broader crypto market downturn, partly attributed to new tariffs. While XRP has since recovered slightly, analysts like Ali Martinez and Egrag Crypto predict further price drops are possible, potentially down to the $2.40 – $2.65 range. At the time of writing, XRP is trading around $3.
