Big Cash Boost: Guaranteed Income Program Expands

A guaranteed income program is giving away millions to help struggling mothers. The Bridge Project is expanding to Kentucky, Ohio, and West Virginia, handing out a total of $10.125 million over the next three years.

Who Gets the Money?

This program aims to fight child poverty by giving direct cash payments to moms. 500 mothers will receive:

  • A one-time payment of $1,125 during pregnancy.
  • $750 per month for the first 15 months.
  • $375 per month for the remaining 21 months.

An additional 750 people will be paid for participating in surveys and interviews.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify, applicants must:

  • Be pregnant (14 weeks or less).
  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Live in Kentucky, Ohio, or West Virginia.
  • Have a household income under $44,000 per year.

Program Expansion

The Bridge Project started in New York City and has since spread to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Connecticut, and now these three new states. The program is funded by The Monarch Foundation, a private family foundation based in New York.
