A Chicago man is battling Bank of America after thieves stole his unlocked phone and drained his account of $4,446.
Robbery and Account Theft
Brandon Wilson was robbed at gunpoint in September 2024. The robbers forced him to unlock his phone and then made off with it. Later, Wilson discovered multiple Zelle transactions totaling $4,446 had been made from his Bank of America account.
Bank’s Refusal to Reimburse
After reporting the fraudulent activity, Bank of America initially credited his account. However, they later reversed the credit, claiming Wilson authorized the transactions. Despite Wilson’s protests and a second fraud claim, the bank refused to reimburse him. Wilson, a long-time Bank of America customer, is understandably frustrated. He maintains he had nothing to do with the unauthorized transactions.
Bank’s Response and Wilson’s Plea
Following media inquiries, Bank of America stated they would review the case. Wilson is now anxiously awaiting a resolution and hopes the bank will finally return his money. He insists the evidence clearly shows he’s not responsible for the unauthorized withdrawals.
