Crypto Doesn’t Care Who’s in Charge: BitMEX Founder

BitMEX founder Arthur Hayes thinks the upcoming US presidential election won’t have much impact on the crypto world. He’s not buying into the pro-crypto talk from Republican candidate Donald Trump.

Trump’s Crypto Promises: All Talk, No Action?

Hayes is skeptical of Trump’s sudden interest in crypto. “He was president for four years and did nothing for crypto,” Hayes said at the Token 2049 event in Singapore. “Now he wants crypto donations? It’s all talk.”

Democrats: Not Exactly Crypto Fans

Hayes also doesn’t see much hope from the Democratic side. He believes they’ve been “hostile” towards crypto.

Crypto Doesn’t Need Government Help

But Hayes argues that crypto doesn’t need any help from the government. Bitcoin’s massive growth happened without any support from regulators. “We don’t need them,” Hayes said. “Why beg for scraps? Just keep building.”

The Bottom Line: It’s Business as Usual

No matter who wins the election, Hayes believes the US government will continue to spend more than it takes in, which will lead to more debt. He thinks this will benefit neither crypto nor the US economy.

In short, Hayes believes the crypto industry should focus on building and ignore the political noise.
