Trump Goes Crypto: Former President Buys Burgers With Bitcoin

A Burger and a Bitcoin Buzz

Donald Trump, the 2024 Republican presidential nominee, made headlines when he used Bitcoin to pay for burgers at a crypto-themed bar in New York City. The former president, known for his previous skepticism towards crypto, seemed to be embracing the digital currency scene.

Trump visited PubKey, a bar in Manhattan, where he ordered some burgers and paid for them with Bitcoin. He even joked about being a “crypto maniac” and encouraged his supporters to vote, saying that the current administration wasn’t treating crypto enthusiasts fairly.

A Shift in Stance

Trump’s recent embrace of Bitcoin is a dramatic change from his previous stance. During his presidency, he criticized Bitcoin’s volatility. However, his 2024 campaign has seen a significant shift in his approach, with Trump even accepting cryptocurrency donations.

Crypto-Focused Campaign

Trump’s crypto-friendly campaign has drawn attention from both supporters and critics. His rival, Vice President Kamala Harris, is also accepting crypto donations through Coinbase Commerce.

Trump’s recent venture, World Liberty Financial, a decentralized finance (DeFi) project, is part of his larger goal of making the US the “crypto capital of the world.”

Bitcoin’s Rise

As Trump’s crypto-related activities gain attention, Bitcoin’s price has also been on the rise. At the time of writing, Bitcoin is trading at $62,918, up 4.8% in the last 24 hours.
