Coinbase Opts Out of AI Token Merger

Coinbase Announcement

Coinbase, a major US cryptocurrency exchange, has announced that it will not facilitate the upcoming merger of three AI-focused altcoin projects: Fetch.ai (FET), Ocean Protocol (OCEAN), and SingularityNET (AGIX).

Merger Details

In March, the three projects announced plans to merge and form the Artificial Superintelligence Alliance (ASI). The merger is scheduled to begin on July 1st and will involve consolidating AGIX and OCEAN tokens into FET tokens.

Coinbase’s Position

Coinbase has stated that it will not execute the token migration on behalf of its users. Instead, users will need to initiate the merger process themselves using their own wallets.

Self-Custodial Wallets

Coinbase recommends using self-custodial wallets, such as Coinbase Wallet, to complete the merger. The merger will be compatible with all major software wallets.

User Responsibility

Coinbase emphasizes that users are responsible for the security of their tokens and the successful completion of the merger process.
