Bank Employee Steals $195,000, Fakes Death to Cover Tracks

A former Truist Bank employee is facing serious prison time after pleading guilty to a massive theft. Ahshah Dior Martin stole a whopping $195,000 from at least 70 bank accounts.

The Heist

Starting in 2023, Martin illegally accessed bank computer systems to get the information she needed. She then used this information to make fraudulent withdrawals and payments, often funneling money to herself through a child support payment processor.

Victims Targeted

Martin’s victims were diverse, including:

  • Multiple churches
  • A children’s museum
  • A non-profit eye tissue bank
  • Manufacturing and construction companies
  • A small business
  • The North Carolina Wing of the Civil Air Patrol

Covering Her Tracks

After Truist Bank fired Martin in April 2024, they tried to get their work laptop back. To avoid returning the incriminating device, Martin faked her own death! She responded to an email from the bank with the chilling message, “Sorry to inform you, she has passed away.”

Spending Spree

Martin spent her ill-gotten gains on a lavish lifestyle, including cosmetic products, clothes, travel, dining, and even visits to a hookah bar.

Facing Justice

Martin faces up to 30 years in prison and is scheduled for sentencing in November.
