Stellar Blade’s X Account Hacked: Fake Crypto Airdrop Scam

Hackers Take Control

The official Stellar Blade X account was hijacked, and used to promote a fake cryptocurrency airdrop. The scammers posted links to a suspicious website (stellarcoin.com) promising massive token giveaways. These posts featured familiar game art and characters, making them appear legitimate at first glance. Crucially, the comment sections were disabled on all posts, preventing users from warning others about the scam.

The Scam Unfolds

The fake airdrop targeted Stellar Blade players, offering a non-existent “game-themed” digital asset. The use of familiar game assets and even some NSFW art (previously used by the developers) made the scam harder to spot initially. However, the sudden, unannounced nature of the airdrop claims tipped off many players that something was wrong. The hackers’ claim that comments were disabled to “protect users from phishing and scam bots” was clearly a lie.

Official Response and Damage Control

Stellar Blade’s creative director, Hyung-Tae Kim, quickly issued a warning on X, confirming the hack and urging players to ignore the fraudulent posts. The development team is working to regain control of the account, but the outcome is uncertain. The scammers even boasted about the number of “claimed” tokens, though these claims were never verified.

The Impact

This incident highlights the vulnerability of social media accounts and the potential for significant damage caused by cryptocurrency scams. The disabling of comments shows a common tactic used by scammers to prevent exposure of their fraudulent activities. The Stellar Blade community and its security have been directly threatened by this hack.
