A former Pump.fun developer, Jarett Dunn, is back behind bars. This Canadian crypto figure is facing serious time after stealing $2 million in cryptocurrency.
The Heist and the Aftermath
In May 2024, Dunn, while employed at Pump.fun, made off with nearly $2 million worth of SOL (Solana). He quickly distributed the stolen funds to various wallets holding Solana meme coins and NFTs, gaining a bit of a following in the crypto community along the way. He surprisingly took responsibility almost immediately, blaming a toxic work environment and Pump.fun’s alleged illegal activities, including operating as an unregistered securities exchange and even hinting at child abuse within the company.
Dunn was arrested but released on bail. Things took a turn in October 2024 when he initially pleaded guilty to the theft, then tried to retract his plea before sentencing. This led to him losing his legal team and facing stricter bail conditions, including restricted movement.
Breaking Bail and Facing Consequences
Then, in June 2025, Dunn broke his bail. He skipped town, traveling from London to Liverpool and tampering with his ankle monitor. He was quickly caught and is now in a London prison.
Interestingly, posts on Dunn’s X account (@STACCoverflow, reportedly managed by his friend Mark Kelly) suggest he’s accepted his fate and might plead guilty again, dropping his attempt to withdraw his earlier plea.
Potential Sentence and Pump.fun’s Success
Dunn could face up to 10 years in prison for fraud in the UK, plus additional time for the bail violation. However, factors like an early guilty plea (if he sticks with it) and any health issues could influence his sentence.
Meanwhile, Pump.fun, the platform he robbed, is doing incredibly well. They recently completed a hugely successful ICO, raising $600 million, and the platform is now valued at over $6 billion. Their meme coins like Moo Deng (MOODENG), Fart Coin (FARTCOIN), and Peanut The Squirrel (PNUT) are apparently doing quite well.
