Bank of America Accused of Credit Card Bait and Switch

Bank of America is facing a class-action lawsuit alleging deceptive credit card practices. The lawsuit claims BofA lured customers with a generous rewards offer, then switched it without notice.

Shortchanged on Rewards

The lawsuit centers around the Air France KLM World Elite Mastercard. New cardholders were promised 70,000 bonus miles and 40 experience points if they spent $3,000 in the first 90 days. However, the plaintiff, Jean-Baptiste Boyer-Gomez, claims he and others received only 50,000 miles and 60 experience points, with a lower spending requirement. This difference is valued at approximately $200.

Bait and Switch Allegations

The lawsuit alleges that Bank of America engaged in a “bait and switch” tactic, attracting customers with a superior offer and then secretly changing it. Boyer-Gomez reportedly contacted BofA about the discrepancy, but the bank denied any wrongdoing.

Seeking Justice

The lawsuit seeks compensation for affected customers, a halt to the alleged deceptive practices, and official recognition of the class action. Bank of America has yet to publicly respond to the allegations.
