Crypto Traders Targeted by Fake Trading Bot Malware

Cryptocurrency enthusiasts are being targeted by a sneaky new malware attack. This malware pretends to be a helpful AI-powered trading bot, but it’s actually designed to steal your sensitive information and drain your crypto wallets.

How the Attack Works

This malicious software, called CryptoAITools, is being spread through popular platforms like GitHub and PyPi. It works in a few stages:

  • Stage 1: You download the malware, thinking it’s a legitimate trading tool.
  • Stage 2: The malware installs a fake website that looks like a legitimate trading platform.
  • Stage 3: The malware shows you a fancy-looking interface that pretends to be an AI trading bot. This is designed to distract you while it steals your information.

Tricking Users with Fake Support

The attackers even created a fake Telegram channel to act as “tech support” for the fake trading bot. They offer free trials and try to make the whole thing seem legitimate.

The Consequences

This malware is serious business. It can steal your:

  • Identity
  • Browser data
  • Sensitive computer files
  • Crypto assets

Protect Yourself

Be careful when downloading software, especially when it comes to trading tools. Make sure you’re downloading from reputable sources. If something seems too good to be true, it probably is.
