From LinkedIn to LockedIn: Ryan Salame’s Bizarre Prison Prep

Former FTX executive Ryan Salame is about to start his 7.5-year prison sentence, and his way of preparing has the crypto community buzzing.

A LinkedIn Update for the Ages

Salame took to LinkedIn to announce his new “position” as an inmate at FCI Cumberland. He even updated his profile to include “cleaning and whittling” as his new skills. This bizarre update sparked a wave of memes and jokes online, with people commenting on his unconventional approach.

One comment quipped, “From LinkedIn to LockedIn,” while another joked that Salame went from “blockchains to being in chains.” It seems like everyone was amused by his attempt to keep his LinkedIn profile up-to-date, even behind bars.

Wordle Woes and a Denied Delay

Salame also took to X (formerly Twitter) to lament losing his Wordle streak as he prepares for prison. He even acknowledged the virality of his LinkedIn post, saying he “learned that people still use LinkedIn” yesterday.

Salame’s legal team tried to delay his surrender date, citing the need for “continuing medical treatment” following a dog bite injury he sustained in June. However, the judge denied the request, stating that the treatment seemed “largely cosmetic and nonurgent.”

Prosecutors argued that Salame’s request was an “eleventh-hour” attempt to delay his prison sentence, especially since he admitted to lying under oath during his guilty plea.

With the judge’s decision, Salame is now scheduled to surrender to prison today, no later than 2:00 pm.
